John Keller is the Director of Fiske Planetarium at the University of Colorado Boulder.  He received his PhD in Planetary Science from the University of Arizona and was an Associate Professor at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo before moving to CU to focus on astronomy education research as a faculty member in Astrophysical and Planetary Sciences at CU. 

Keller is currently Co-PI for the Research and Education Cooperative Occultation Network (RECON), an NSF-funded citizen science astronomy research project involving communities across the western United States to measure the sizes of Kuiper Belt Objects. He is also a leader for the Collaborative Around Research Experiences for Teachers (CARET) and active with 100Kin10, an organization of over 280 stakeholders committed to preparing and recruiting 100,000 science, math, engineering, and mathematics teachers by 2021.

He first became involved with the Astronomical Society of the Pacific back in the 1990s while teaching high school science in the San Francisco Bay Area after completing his undergraduate degree and teacher credential at Stanford University.
